Language Reflection - 1079 Words

Language impacts the daily lives of members of any race, creed, and region of the world. Language helps express our feelings, desires, and queries to the world around us. Words, gestures and tone are utilized in union to portray a broad spectrum of emotion. The unique and diverse methods human beings can use to communicate through written and spoken language is a large part of what allows to harness our innate ability to form lasting bonds with one another. â€Å"Language is a system of commination using sounds, gestures or marks that are put together according to certain rules, resulting in meanings that are intelligible to all who share that language†. (Cultural anthropology pg. 103) I was born in Mississippi in the 80’s. I was taught how†¦show more content†¦I believe it’s the way that I was raised, in the south you care for one another and feel safe to help. Or really, I think it must be the people I surround myself with. Three core values I feel I hold are family, work/life balance, Relationship. In ways these three go hand and hand. Having adaptability, empathy and harmony as a few of my strengths helps in all my values. Family to me means a lot. I have a husband and three children that mean the most to me. I express my feelings to them through hugs, kisses, and I voice my appreciation to them. Growing up I saw the value of families. My role models as a child were my grandparents and my parents they were always there for one another, but as I get older I realize that it’s not just my close family but all the people in my life that I call family that I find are helping me understand my values more. Has I got older and married I gained more family and their families began to grow as well. Each new person brings so my to my life and I am very grateful. English is the only spoken language I know, but as I am learning more about my family background I want to learn different languages. I just fou nd out with the start of this class, that my family line goes back to 1718 to France. As I read more I want to learn more and visit places that meant a lot to my family.
